About
Welcome!
Welcome to Nom With Us, a different kind of food blog with a different kind of food-bloggers. The tagline here is “fewds for two, shared with all of you” and that sums up our mission fairly well. We invite you to join us on our food adventures in the Pacific Northwest and beyond as we travel around trying out various restaurants and snacks.
Hopefully this site provides motivation for us to experiment even more with our restauranting (“we shouldn’t go there, we’ve already written a review for them!”) and the byproduct is some helpful information for all of you who are interested in doing the same thing — trying out new places and having more positive food experiences (or, if you’d rather, “noms”.)
Who are we?
Chris and Teejay: This site was created by and is largely populated with content by Teejay and Chris. Both are omnivorous web developers by day (Teejay a designer, and Chris a PHP programmer) but enjoy nomming by night. Neither are hardcore “foodies” however, so don’t expect any comments about the origin of the brick on which our pizza was cooked upon, just fairly common-sense observations about the quality of food and service they enjoy.
John and Alece: (pending)
What is affordable, exactly?
Here at Nom With Us we have tried to create an expense-rating system that will make sense to most people, and be most effective in knowing at a glance how spendy a nom-establishment is. Below, is the expense grid we use to determine what “inexpensive”, “affordable” and “expensive” mean, on a per-establishment-type basis:
All prices are pre-tax, and pre-tip.
Coffee/tea shop (price per large drink)
<$3 – Inexpensive
$3-5 – Affordable
>$5 – Expensive
Cafe / Cafeteria / other casual dining place (price per meal, not including drinks)
<$8 – Inexpensive
$8-14 – Affordable
>$14 – Expensive
Full service restaurant w/ small plates (price per small plate)
<$6 – Inexpensive
$6-10 – Affordable
>$10 – Expensive
Full service restaurant with a la carte entrees/appetizers/desserts (price for entree)
<$13 – Inexpensive
$13-18 – Affordable
>$18 – Expensive
Full service restaurant with fixed courses (price for one person’s food, not including drinks)
<$30 – Inexpensive
$30-50 – Affordable
>$50 – Expensive
